SRM University-AP Signs MoU with EHS Services to Advance Industry-Academia Collaboration in Environmental Health, Safety and Sustainability

SRM University-AP, Amaravati, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with EHS Services (EHSS) to strengthen industry-academia collaboration in the areas of Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), sustainability, circular economy, waste management, Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR), environmental compliance, and industrial safety. The partnership seeks to promote knowledge exchange, applied research, professional development, and practical industry exposure for students and researchers of the University.

The MoU was formally signed by Dr Vinayak Kalluri, Registrar, SRM University-AP, and Dr Priyank Arya, Founder and Director, EHS Services (EHSS), and Founder and Vice President, Waste Management and Recycling Society (WMARS).

Under the ambit of this collaboration, the two organisations will jointly undertake research, consultancy, and technical projects in EHS, sustainability, circular economy, waste management, EPR, Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) practices, and environmental compliance. The MoU also provides for industry-oriented training, workshops, seminars, internships, and capacity-building programmes designed to equip M.Sc. and M.Tech. students, research scholars, and faculty with practical exposure and industry-relevant skills. Students will additionally benefit from structured career development opportunities, gaining insight into emerging professional domains and evolving career pathways within EHS, ESG, EPR, circular economy, sustainable waste management, and industrial sustainability. The partnership further envisages sustained knowledge exchange and technical collaboration between the two institutions, including direct interaction with industry professionals and the sharing of practical expertise, alongside the development of innovative and sustainable solutions to contemporary environmental and industrial challenges through joint research and applied projects.

The MoU establishes a broad framework for long-term collaboration between SRM University-AP and EHS Services. Specific projects, research activities, training programmes, internships, and other initiatives arising from the partnership will be developed through mutually agreed Scope of Work (SoW) documents, which will define the respective objectives, responsibilities, deliverables, timelines, financial terms, and other project-specific requirements.

This collaboration marks an important step towards strengthening the bridge between academia and industry, with a strong emphasis on student employability, practical learning, and emerging career opportunities. Through exposure to rapidly evolving fields such as EHS, ESG, EPR, circular economy, and sustainable waste management, the Department of Environmental Science and Engineering at SRM University-AP aims to equip its M.Sc. and M.Tech. students with industry-relevant skills, preparing them to meet the growing demands of the environmental and sustainability sector.

The partnership also reinforces the connection between SRM University-AP’s alumni and industry, notably through Jasneet Singh, an M.Sc. Environmental Science alumnus currently associated with EHS Services. By translating academic knowledge into practical skills through sustained industry engagement, the MoU is expected to foster innovative solutions for sustainable industrial development and contribute meaningfully to the growth of the circular economy in the years ahead.
