Introduction to the Programme

M.Sc Psychology is a postgraduate programme that provides advanced training in core and applied areas of psychological science, preparing graduates for research, professional practice, and careers across mental health, organisations, education, and technology-driven domains. The programme integrates strong theoretical foundations with research and applied training, along with exposure to AI-enabled tools and data-driven approaches to understand, analyse, and address real-world psychological challenges.

Aims and Objectives of the Programme
The M.Sc Psychology programme at SRM University-AP aims to develop scientifically grounded, ethically responsible, and future-ready psychologists equipped to work in an increasingly technology-driven world. The programme nurtures students into skilled researchers and practitioners capable of integrating psychological knowledge with modern analytical and digital tools.
It is our goal to prepare students to contribute to academic research, applied practice, and emerging interdisciplinary fields, including AI-integrated behavioural sciences, and to pursue advanced studies in India and abroad.
For this, the programme is structured around three core pillars of training:
Each semester builds progressively from foundational knowledge to advanced application, with strong emphasis on research, field exposure, and independent inquiry through projects, internship, and dissertation, incorporating contemporary tools for data analysis, behavioural insights, and evidence-based decision-making.
Facilitate the development of individuals sensitive to their context’s changing needs and use their knowledge of psychology to assist adaptation.

Scientific and Disciplinary Knowledge
Capable of demonstrating comprehensive knowledge and understanding of one or more disciplines that form a part of an undergraduate programme of study.
Ability to evaluate the reliability and relevance of evidence; Capacity to extrapolate from what one has learned and apply their competencies to solve different kinds of non-familiar problems, rather than replicate curriculum content knowledge; and apply one’s learning to real-life situations.
Capability to apply analytic thought to a body of knowledge; analyse and evaluate evidence, arguments, claims, and beliefs based on empirical evidence; identify relevant assumptions or implications; formulate coherent arguments; critically evaluate practices, policies and theories by following a scientific approach to knowledge development. Critical sensibility to lived experiences, with self-awareness and reflexivity of both self and society.
