The Department of Computer Science and Engineering at SRM University-AP, on September 19, 2026, successfully conducted an engaging educational initiative titled “Building Future Ready Skills in School Students through Python Programming”. Designed to cultivate early technological literacy and computational thinking among young learners, the workshop provided approximately 37 school students with foundational, hands-on exposure to Python programming. By introducing essential coding concepts through interactive problem-solving exercises, the event sought to nurture logical reasoning, creative inquiry, and analytical capabilities necessary to thrive in an increasingly automated global digital ecosystem. This outreach aligns seamlessly with the broader vision of SRM University-AP to foster community engagement, bridge school education with higher technical expertise, and prepare the next generation to contribute meaningfully to the global knowledge economy.
The programme was graced by Prof. Jayaseelan Murugaiyan, Associate Dean of the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences (SEAS) at SRM University-AP, who attended as the Chief Guest. In his address to the participating students, Prof. Jayaseelan Murugaiyan emphasised the transformative power of early exposure to computer science in navigating global technological advancements. His inspiring presence underscored the commitment of the university to democratise digital education and encourage young scholars to develop a problem-solving mindset from an early age. He commended the department for creating a platform that ignites curiosity, builds confidence, and connects foundational school learning with global standards of technological innovation.
The technical and practical sessions were led by distinguished faculty members from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, including Dr Sadinenin Lakshmi Narayana, Dr CH Sree Kumar, and Dr Nakkala Srinivas Mudiraj. Serving as resource persons, they structured the workshop around accessible, real-world coding challenges that demystified the syntax and logic of Python. Through guided hands-on practice, students explored fundamental programming structures, algorithm development, and interactive coding exercises. The resource persons ensured an inclusive and encouraging environment where complex concepts were communicated effortlessly, inspiring participants to explore coding as a tool for creative expression and global problem-solving.
The workshop generated an overwhelmingly positive response from the young participants, who demonstrated remarkable enthusiasm throughout the interactive modules. First-hand exposure to Python programming enabled the students to appreciate the real-world utility of computational logic and its relevance across diverse global industries. Participant feedback highlighted that the sessions were exceptionally engaging, practical, and effective in demystifying computer programming. The programme concluded with formal expressions of appreciation extended to the faculty members, staff, resource persons, and enthusiastic school students whose active involvement ensured the event’s resounding success, reinforcing the role of SRM University-AP as a catalyst for educational transformation and regional development.
