SRM University-AP today hosted a high-level bilateral meeting with a delegation from Quantinuum, one of the largest integrated quantum computing company, to explore avenues for academic and research collaboration in the field of quantum technologies. Quantinuum’s trapped-ion quantum computers hold the record for the highest quantum volume achieved to date, and the company counts leading global enterprises among its customers, cementing its position at the forefront of the quantum computing industry.

The Quantinuum delegation was led by Dr Rajeeb Hazra, President and Chief Executive Officer, and Dr Seetha Rama Krishna Nookala, Vice President, Quantinuum. They were welcomed to the campus by Prof. Ch. Satish Kumar, Vice-Chancellor of SRM University-AP, who introduced the university’s academic vision, research ecosystem and institutional priorities from the university’s perspective.

During the discussions, Dr Hazra conveyed strong interest in building a collaborative partnership with SRM University-AP, commending the university’s leadership in research and the calibre of its quantum facilities. He remarked on the vibrancy of the research environment fostered at the campus and expressed enthusiasm for deepening engagement across multiple fronts.

A key point of discussion was the prospect of residential research opportunities for SRM University-AP scholars and faculty at Quantinuum’s own research centre, which would allow researchers to work closely alongside Quantinuum’s teams and gain hands-on exposure to advanced quantum systems. The two sides also held detailed discussions on fault-tolerant quantum computing devices, an area of shared strategic interest.

Dr Hazra further enquired about the university’s entrepreneurial ecosystem and the real-world outcomes emerging from its research programmes. He then emphasized Quantinuum’s readiness to collaborate across the entire spectrum of academic and translational activity, from fundamental research to entrepreneurship and commercialisation.

Dr Seetha Rama Krishna Nookala, who was visiting the university for a second time, spoke about the importance of inter-disciplinary collaboration in advancing quantum research, echoing themes from his earlier visit. He also discussed plans for training SRM AP‘s faculty in the use of Quantinuum’s quantum systems, with a view to strengthening the university’s in-house capabilities in quantum science and engineering.

The meeting reflects SRM AP‘s continuing commitment to forging partnerships with global leaders in advanced technology and reinforces its position as a growing hub for quantum research in India. The university’s quantum computing facilities and its emphasis on interdisciplinary, industry-linked research were noted by the visiting delegation as key strengths that make SRM University-AP an attractive partner for sustained collaboration.
