Dr Janakiraman has a PhD in Library Information Science. He has completed his Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees in LIS from Bishop Heber College and MPhil from Alagappa University. He has also done his library leadership course from INELI.
Dr Janakiraman has spent over 25 years in leading educational institutions and has played a distinctive role in leading the library and knowledge resources team at KREA University, M S Swaminathan Research Foundation, SRM Easwari Engineering College, and Hindustan Group of Institutions.
He received the IFLA Wall of Fame Global Recognition in 2020 for his idea of a green library aligning with UNSDG 7 – Clean, affordable, reliable, and modern energy for all. Dr Janakiraman has written around 10 research papers and 2 book chapters, 9 National and International conference papers. He has also served as a Member of the Special Library Association, USA.
His areas of interest include Open Access, Digital Library, E-resources Management, Green library, Koha, Library 4.0, and other modern library services through ICT tools. Dr Janakiraman has visited Australia, Croatia and Greece in various assignments related to the International Network for Emerging Library Innovators, Green Library, etc.
