Abstract
This PCF structure having core of two different English alphabet shaped have been investigated using Finite difference time domain method. ‘Y’-shaped core and ‘T’-shaped core has been investigated twice, by changing the background material. Two background material silica and (non silica) lead silicate have been used. PCF structure having ‘T’-shaped core (structure ‘C’) with silica as wafer reports much better results. Structure ‘C’ and Structure ‘D’ reports zero dispersion at second and third optical windows. Birefringence reported by structure ‘C’ is also high and is of the order 10-2. Normalized frequency, confinement loss, splices loss and effective mode area of the designed fiber has also been studied.
