Abstract

With regards to the Ghanaian mHealth environment, the study explores behavioural and experiential influencing factors on the use of the application. We support a holistic thinking style integrating user experience (UX) in the conventional technology acceptance models. This research uses Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) to a sample of 243 users of mHealth to conduct the synthesis of the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) and the DeLone and McLean IS Success Model combined with the specific UX dimensions. These results show that perceived ease of use is a key motivating factor of both perceived usefulness and UX, which then are critical antecedents of user satisfaction and intention to keep utilizing mHealth platforms. The model proposed elucidates an intermediate magnitude on the major outcome variables. The research offers an answer to the gap between Human-Computer Interaction and information systems research by incorporating the behavioural, cognitive and experiential aspects.
