Abstract
India is experiencing a steep digital divide, as its population does not have equal access to technology and, thereby, to information and power. In the face of several challenges to the state of technology and information in India, we argue for a need to rethink our approaches to what it means to go digital at collective levels in academic libraries at higher education institutes and as legislative measures that drive individual libraries. We look at the idea of being or becoming “next-gen” in the Indian context regarding the sociological and philosophical grounds of digitality and digital technovision as imagined for Indian languages.
