Abstract
This work investigates the dynamic response of an orthotropic fluid-saturated porous strip consisting of moving collinear Griffith cracks subjected to a moving punch load under mode-I crack propagation. The governing equations are formulated in a moving coordinate system using the Galilean transformation to describe the motion of the cracks. By applying the Hilbert transform technique, closed-form analytical expressions are obtained for the stress-intensity factor (SIF) and the crack opening displacement (COD). A detailed parametric study is carried out to understand how variations in crack–tip position, external normal pressure, strip thickness, and material porosity influence the fracture behaviour. The numerical results are illustrated through graphical representations, and special limiting cases are compared with established results in the literature to verify the present study. The findings contribute to a deeper understanding of wave-induced fracture mechanics in fluid-saturated porous orthotropic media and may help in the analysing and designing systems relevant to geomechanics, enhanced oil recovery, and biomechanical applications.
