Abstract

A loading bracket is an important component used in jet engines. The jet engine bracket must support the engine’s weight during mechanical operation without any deformation. Additive manufacturing has the potential to improve the production of jet engine brackets by addressing issues with surface finish and material waste that arise with traditional methods. Weight reduction is an important method for producing lightweight structures for various engineering applications. Material and mechanical properties play a critical role in the weight reduction technique, lightweight material Ti-6Al-4V is used for the topology optimization technique. While addressing limitations to enhance the applicability and effectiveness of both topology optimization and AM in aerospace innovations. Autodesk Fusion 360 software was used for the analysis of model frequency, which helps to design the product with minimum material consumption, Furthermore, a gyroid volume lattice was applied in the model for the application of a lightweight structure. Topology optimization and TPMS lattice structures are weight-reduction techniques that can produce efficient and high-performance components. Apart from light, lightweight material Ti-6Al-4V, a combination of gyroid lattice also reduced the weight of the material effectively. This hybrid process reduced 23.97 % of the overall weight. Additive manufacturing is a technique that can produce a lightweight engine bracket. This paper aims to achieve weight reduction for a jet engine bracket by combining topology optimization techniques with volume lattice.
