Abstract
Blockchain-based electronic bidding (e-bidding) systems have emerged as a viable solution to achieve transparency, immutability, traceability, and decentralized bid management. Nonetheless, disclosure of bid amount, eavesdropping or tampering with bid data, and revealing bidders’ identity undermine the trustworthiness and fairness of the bidding ecosystem. To address the above concern, researchers have proposed various blockchain-enabled privacy-preserving bidding schemes. However, most of them lack to simultaneously achieve privacy, anonymity, and fairness with less computation overhead. In this regard, a secure Lightweight Elliptic Curve Cryptography-Based Anonymous SignCryption(LECASC) framework for e-bidding atop blockchain is proposed to solve the potential privacy, integrity, and anonymity issues. In particular, to ensure bidding message confidentiality, unforgeability, and privacy-preserving communications in an efficient manner, proposed framework combines the signature and encryption into a single step. Additionally, employing pairing-free certificateless elliptic curve cryptography-based mechanism in LECASC makes the scheme efficient and lightweight. Moreover, to protect the bidder’s identity and obtain anonymity, a pseudo-identity is assigned to each bidder during communication. The formal and informal security proofs demonstrate that the proposed system is secure against various attacks. Finally, extensive simulation results and comparison with similar schemes validate that proposed solution achieves more functionality and security features, reduces computation and communication costs by 75.89% and 54.43%, respectively.
