Abstract
An Automatic Voltage Regulator (AVR) is used in synchronous generator systems to maintain a consistent output voltage by controlling the excitation current. Ensuring optimal performance of the AVR requires effective tuning of its controller parameters, especially in the presence of load disturbances and system nonlinearities. In this study, the Grey Wolf Optimizer (GWO) is employed to design and optimize the AVR system. Its ability to avoid local minima and converge toward a global optimum makes it a suitable candidate for dynamic controller tuning problems. Different cases such as transient, bode, root locus, and sensitivity analysis has been carried out to justify the effectiveness of the GWO method.
