Abstract
Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) techniques are crucial in improving the output power quality of voltage source inverters and for regulating the speed of the electric motor. But, in the over modulation, standard sine triangle PWM approach introduces harmonics due to unbalanced instantaneous phase voltages which leads to unbalanced phase currents. This work introduces a novel PWM strategy that uses the Inverse Dynamic Gain Reduction (IDGR) mechanism to balance the phase voltages during the over modulation zone. This technology is aimed to increase drive performance minimizing overall harmonic distortion and maximizing the utilization of DC bus voltage. The Comparative study indicates that the suggested method effectively balances phase voltages throughout a large modulation index range, outperforming standard PWM techniques. This framework is simulated on a dual-inverter-fed induction motor, achieving speeds beyond synchronous limits ideal for electric vehicle (EV) drive applications. Simulation results validate the superior waveform quality and voltage control achieved through the proposed approach.
