Abstract
This paper develops a structured loop-gain-oriented control approach for magnetically coupled single-input dual-output (MC-SIDO) boost converter. Given that the inductors are magnetically linked, a significant interaction occurs between the two outputs, making traditional independently designed controllers insufficient to achieve desired output tracking objectives. To address this, a complete small-signal model is formulated and the capacitor current feedback (CCF) control mechanism is integrated to obtain an accurate current modulator representation. A decoupling matrix is then employed to isolate the inner current loops. Thereafter using the decoupled outer loop gain transfer functions Fo 1(s) and Fo 2(s), a systematic k-factor-based Type-III compensator is synthesized for each port, allowing precise placement of controller poles and zeros relative to the right-half-plane (RHP) zero. The effect of the crossover frequency fc on stability, phase margin, and interport interaction is investigated in detail. Simulation results demonstrate that selecting fc<fRHP for each of the loop shaping control design yields improved phase margin, reduced overshoot, and lower sensitivity to change in controller parameters. The Bode characteristics and transient responses confirm the effectiveness of the proposed decoupled CCF-based Type-III compensation strategy for achieving promising dynamic performance in MC-SIDO boost converters.
