Abstract
Due to the nature of digital communications, there is a necessity for transmitting images through public networks in a secured manner. The proposed technique involves the use of a chaotic image encryption algorithm by dividing an image into smaller fragments then performing encryption on each fragment by means of Tent-Sine chaotic system. Encryption is achieved through permutation, substitution and XOR diffusion algorithms whereas SHA-256 algorithm will be employed in generating seeds for encryption. The proposed algorithm also involves the application of microservices in a sender-receiver authorizing process using the technologies Node.js, MongoDB and Python Flask. From the experimental analysis carried out, the following results were found regarding security performance. NPCR of more than 99.5%, acceptable UACI values, entropy of more than 7.999 and encryption time below 0.5 seconds for 256×256 images. The above indicates high security with regard to encryption and decryption processes.
