The Department of Computer Science and Engineering at SRM University-AP organised a technical session and career talk titled “CS_GO: Beyond the Code – From Computing Foundations to Cybersecurity Careers” on October 14, 2026. Convened by Dr Puppala Naga Sravanthi, Assistant Professor, and Dr Priyanka, Associate Professor, the three-hour programme in classroom S-209 brought together 50 undergraduate students from the first and second years. Delivered by Mr Adarsh Mohanty, a second-year Core CSE student, the session introduced early-stage students to fundamental computing principles and career pathways within information security.
Throughout the afternoon, the interactive talk addressed the necessity of cybersecurity in protecting digital infrastructure, applications, and modern enterprise systems. Mr Adarsh Mohanty outlined core technical domains, including ethical hacking, system vulnerabilities, and threat mitigation practices, explaining how a firm grasp of computing logic enables engineers to adapt to changing technical requirements. The session provided a peer-to-peer learning setting where participants engaged with practical scenarios, discussing industry expectations, essential certifications, and self-driven learning strategies required to enter the domain.
By introducing first and second-year undergraduates to specialized technical fields early in their studies, the initiative reflects SRM University-AP’s focus on building career awareness and practical understanding alongside academic coursework. Aligning with the university’s goal to prepare graduates for a global technology workforce, the session equips students with the technical confidence and foundational clarity needed to pursue competitive global career opportunities and address digital security challenges worldwide.
