Abstract

Over the years there has been an increasing need for Communication, Identification, Sensing, and Tracking (CIST) systems for connected constellations of device for public and defense applications. As a feasible solution this work proposes Joint Radar Communications (JRC) prioritizing the concept of sensing wireless communications for the new generation 5G beyond wireless networks utilizing the advantage of Microwave Photonics communication systems, which have less form factor and high bandwidth. Considering the multipath fading observed in selected environments the operational frequency at X band has been chosen in this study analysis including techniques like photonic frequency multiplying and photonic frequency quadrupling enable reconfigurability of the system with Linear Frequency Modulated Continuous Waveform (LFMCW) as the carrier embedded with communication data. Quadrature phase shift keying (QPSK) technique was preferred to modulate the LFMCW considering its advantage of data rates and bandwidth efficiency. Orthogonality was provided by employing Time Division Multiplexing (TDM). The whole work was executed using MATLAB simulations.
