Abstract
Virtual reality (VR) technology is transforming the nature of travel and tourism by providing an immersive and interactive virtual experience. It assists the tourism organizations in displaying destinations, advertising cultural heritage, and motivating the visitors even before visiting them physically. It is found that VR has the potential of manipulating travelers perceptions, emotions, and desire to travel by enhancing enjoyment and a strong sense of presence. These experiences justify destination branding, enhance booking behavior and offer sustainable service alternatives to conventional travel promotion. Nevertheless, there are still obstacles of high costs, low access, and more realistic and interactive content which are required. Further development of VR technology makes it more important to understand its longterm effects, ethical issues, and its subsequent integration with other technologies.
