Abstract
This research introduces a Reconfigurable Charge Pump (RCP) architecture developed to Harvest energy efficiently from low-voltage sources, particularly solar cells. The design includes four charge pumping stages-voltage Doubler, Tripler, Quadrupler, and Quintupler-which are activated based on the incoming supply voltage. A control logic block selects the appropriate multiplier depending on the input, which ranges from 0.6 V to 2.0 V. Regardless of the variation in input, the system maintains a stable output of 3.3 V. An impedance matching technique enhances energy transfer, significantly improving performance. The design was implemented using Cadence Virtuoso in a 45 nm CMOS technology node. Simulation results show a power conversion efficiency (PCE) between 74% and 84%, demonstrating this design’s suitability for compact, low-power applications such as IoT devices and wearable electronics.
