DRDO-Supported Research on Solid Propellant Health Monitoring

In a major boost to defence-oriented research, Dr Kiran Mangalampalli, Associate Professor at CIDR, SRM University-AP, Amaravati has been awarded a ₹50 lakh research grant by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) – High Energy Materials Research Laboratory.
The project, titled “Indentation-Based Mechanical Characterization of Solid Propellants for Aging Assessment and In-Service Health Monitoring,” focuses on developing advanced diagnostic techniques to evaluate the structural integrity and lifespan of solid propellants. This research holds significant importance for national defence applications, ensuring reliability, safety, and performance optimisation of propulsion systems used in critical defence technologies.
