SRM University-AP hosted a distinguished high-level delegation from Zambia, including Dr John Machayi (CEO of the Higher Education Loans and Scholarships Board [HELSB]), Mr Fleming Mukosha (Manager of Scholarships at HELSB), and Mr Pride Mutengo Sinkala (Managing Director of SkyGold Education Consultancy). The focus of this momentous occasion was on exploring strategic academic collaborations, student exchange initiatives, and joint skill development programmes. University leadership, including Dr Vinayak Kalluri, Registrar of SRM AP, opened the session by presenting the university’s advanced campus infrastructure, while the Director of International Relations and Higher Studies, Mr Lakshmi Narasimhan detailed the already existing international relationships and diverse academic pathways available for international students.
The Vice-Chancellor joined the meeting to highlight the cutting-edge research and innovation opportunities unique to SRM University-AP. He emphasized making the campus a home away from home for international students, after which the Registrar focused on showcasing advanced research frameworks like the Quantum Research Framework, the processing capabilities of High-Performance Computing clusters.
Speaking on bilateral relations, Mr Pride Mutengo Sinkala highlighted the strong existing diplomatic ties between India and Zambia while focusing on deeper academic collaboration. He noted that the practical, experiential learning model offered by SRM AP perfectly aligns with Zambia’s current national focus on economic growth through industrialisation. Dr Machayi complemented this by discussing the ongoing projects ofr the Higher Education Loans and Scholarships Board (HELSB) in funding these transformative student opportunities, while discussing how SRM AP and India could tap into the potential of an untapped area. Dr Machayi emphasized the great opportunities and mutual benefits of this collaboration, noting that training students in emerging technologies through SRM AP‘s hands-on curriculum will provide the exact skill sets required in today’s workforce.
Following a campus tour of high-tech learning and residential facilities, the Zambian delegation concluded the visit with a shared commitment to developing collaborative student programs and research initiatives. Both teams expressed enthusiasm for advancing these joint projects. This momentous occasion marks a significant milestone in SRM AP’s ongoing commitment to globalizing higher education and fostering impactful international partnerships that empower students through global exposure.
