The Mathematics Teachers’ Development Programme (MTDP) 2026 was successfully organised by the Directorate of Admissions in collaboration with the Department of Mathematics, SRM University–AP, during 5–7 June, 2026. Conceived as an intensive academic outreach and professional enrichment initiative for high school mathematics teachers, the programme sought to strengthen pedagogical practice, expose participants to contemporary mathematical ideas, and encourage reflective engagement with emerging educational directions
The three-day programme combined lectures, thematic sessions, interactive discussions, and institutional engagement activities. Academic sessions addressed diverse themes including career opportunities after undergraduate studies in mathematics, topics in calculus, trigonometric ratios and functions, algebra and number theory, and the growing role of artificial intelligence and computing in mathematical education.
Prof. Kalyan Chakraborty introduced participants to academic trajectories and career pathways available after a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics. Dr Anirban Bose delivered sessions connecting foundational concepts in calculus with classroom applications. Prof. Jayasree Subramanian discussed approaches to teaching trigonometric ratios and functions with conceptual clarity. Dr Sourav Sen conducted sessions on number theory and its relevance in high school curriculum. Dr Vijayakrishna Rowthu explored the evolving interface between mathematics, artificial intelligence, and computational literacy.
The key outcomes included enhanced awareness of contemporary approaches to mathematics teaching and exposure to advanced mathematical themes translated into pedagogically meaningful formats. Additionally, the program fostered a greater understanding of emerging opportunities in higher education and computing. It also strengthened interaction between school educators and university faculty.
MTDP 2026 reinforced SRM University–AP’s commitment to meaningful academic outreach and the continuous professional development of educators. The programme created a platform for dialogue across institutional levels and highlighted the university’s vision of strengthening mathematics education through innovation, accessibility, and scholarly exchange.
The Mathematics Teachers’ Development Programme (MTDP) 2026 concluded successfully with strong participation and enthusiastic engagement from attendees. The event demonstrated the value of sustained teacher-development initiatives in advancing mathematical education.
