SRM University-AP recently hosted a distinguished high-level delegation from Zimbabwe, including Mr P Hobwani (Deputy Ambassador of Zimbabwe in Delhi), Dr (Ms) Wadzanai Kachere (Chief Director – Presidential and National Scholarships, Embassy of Zimbabwe), Mr Taringa William (Director of Scholarship Administration), and Mrs Shau Chief (Deputy Director of Finance for the Presidential and National Scholarship Program) on the 5th of June, 2026. The focus of this momentous occasion was on exploring strategic academic collaborations, student exchange initiatives, and joint skill development programmes. Registrar Dr Vinayak Kalluri opened the session by presenting the university’s advanced campus infrastructure, while the Director of International Relations and Higher Studies, Mr Lakshmi Narasimhan detailed the diverse academic pathways available for international students.
The Vice-Chancellor joined the meeting to highlight the cutting-edge research and innovation opportunities unique to SRM University-AP. He emphasized advanced research frameworks like the Quantum Research Framework, the processing capabilities of High-Performance Computing clusters, and the digital fabrication ecosystem within the university’s FabLab. These advanced facilities underscore the institution’s commitment to bridging the gap between theoretical academics and practical industry application.
Speaking on bilateral relations, Deputy Ambassador Mr P Hobwani highlighted the strong existing diplomatic ties between India and Zimbabwe. He noted that the practical, experiential learning model offered by SRM AP perfectly aligns with Zimbabwe’s current national focus on economic growth through industrialisation. Mr Taringa William complemented this by discussing the rich history, significance, and ongoing need for the Presidential and National Scholarship Program in funding these transformative student opportunities.
Dr (Ms) Wadzanai Kachere focused heavily on building future-ready academic frameworks, highlighting India as an exceptional destination for global student exposure. She advocated for the implementation of structured credit transfer programmes, student exchange initiatives, and formal Staff Development Programmes to enhance institutional capacity. Dr Kachere emphasized that training students in emerging technologies through SRM AP‘s hands-on curriculum will provide the exact skill sets required in today’s workforce.
The successful visit concluded with the delegation being given a comprehensive tour of the campus and its amazing infrastructure. Seeing the state-of-the-art laboratories and modern learning spaces firsthand reinforced their confidence in the partnership. This memorable event marks a significant milestone in SRM University-AP’s ongoing commitment to globalizing higher education and fostering impactful international partnerships that empower students through global exposure.
