SRM University-AP marked a landmark milestone as it proudly celebrated the tenth edition of Research Day on April 24, 2026, , providing a dynamic platform for research scholars to present their work, exchange ideas, and foster interdisciplinary collaboration. Dr SSV Ramakumar, Chief Technology Officer and Executive Vice President of AM Green, graced the event as the chief guest.
Speaking on the Energy transition from an Indian perspective, Dr SSV Ramakumar expounded on the Princeton Wedge Approach to tackling climate change step by step rather than relying on a single big solution. Analysing the recent trends in energy transitions, he observed key energy shifts in 2025, including an increase in gas demand, an increase in solar and wind energy, a decline in fossil fuel consumption and a bio-energy transition from conventional bio resources to advanced biofuels.
He appreciated SRM University-AP’s pioneering initiatives in emerging technologies and green hydrogen, positioning the university as a trailblazer in sustainable innovation and a driving force in India’s journey toward a cleaner, greener future.
Prof. D Narayana Rao, Executive Director Research – SRM Group of Institutions, stated that SRM University-AP vision and mission were to develop a strong research ecosystem that seamlessly integrated industry collaboration and academic excellence. He emphatically underscored that the Government of India recognises Science & Technology as the driving force towards socio-economic development and national security.
Aligning with India’s various research and scientific missions, he remarked that “SRM University-AP’s bold initiatives in AI, Energy, Quantum research and education and Green Hydrogen underscore its commitment to shaping the future of science, technology, and innovation.”

He also noted that, followed by the Centre of Excellence of Hydrogen Technologies, the university will also establish a Centre for ANRF-Translational Research Innovation and Initiative (ATRII) to advance cutting-edge research into real-world solutions by fostering interdisciplinary collaboration and accelerating technology translation.
Vice Chancellor of SRM AP, Prof. Ch Satish Kumar, commented that the 10th Research Day is a momentous occasion that reflects the university’s commitment to multidisciplinary research. He said, “The systematic deterioration of research culture in India, driven by differential funding, underscores the need for every private university to invest in a robust research ecosystem that enables ideas to evolve into meaningful research and translate into impactful products benefiting society.”
Prof. C V Tomy, Dean-School of Engineering and Sciences, SRM AP, remarked that the 10th Research Day witnessed a staggering response from aspiring scholars and students. The research forum received 574 abstracts, 441 from the UG/PG students and 133 from the PhD scholars, across a wide spectrum of thematic areas including Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Security, Data Science, Renewable Energy, Smart Mobility, Humanities and Social Sciences, Robotics, Nanotechnology, and more.
Participants of the oral and poster presentations were also awarded Gold and Silver Medals for outstanding research presentations. 30 gold medals, 2 Silver medals, 6 special mention awards and 61 seed grants were awarded to students and scholars who demonstrated exceptional research work. Research Contingency Awards that recognised excellence were also awarded, with the top two PhD papers receiving a cash prize of ₹25,000 each.
Additionally, the university also felicitated faculty members for exceptional research performance. 7 faculty members were presented with Outstanding Research Awards, and 34 faculty members were awarded certificates under various categories in recognition of outstanding scholarly productivity and consistent contribution to academic research.
The tenth edition of Research Day at SRM University-AP wasn’t just a celebration – it was a declaration that the future of innovation is being built, one discovery at a time.
