SRM University-AP hosted a distinguished delegation from Keio University and Nihon University from March 16 to March 20, 2026, marking a significant milestone in strengthening international academic collaborations.
The visiting delegation comprised eminent faculty members and students from disciplines including Mechanical Engineering, Transportation Systems Engineering, and Precision Machinery Engineering, reflecting a strong focus on advanced engineering and interdisciplinary research.
From Keio University, the delegation was led by faculty members Miki Norihisa and Kato Takeo, accompanied by a group of master’s students specialising in Mechanical Engineering. From Nihon University, faculty members Kobayakawa Satoru and Ueda Masahito were joined by undergraduate and postgraduate students from Mechanical Engineering, Physics, and allied fields. The delegation also included Kikuchi Yutaka, Executive Officer from Forum Engineering, Japan, representing industry collaboration interests.
During their visit, the delegates engaged in interactive sessions, technical discussions, and laboratory visits with SRM University-AP faculty and students. Key areas of discussion included composite materials, aerospace applications, transportation engineering, drone technology, nanotechnology, Quantum Technology and AI-driven research.

The visit focused on exploring opportunities for student exchange programs, faculty mobility, joint research initiatives, and short-term academic immersion programs. Discussions also emphasised enabling SRM students to gain exposure to Japanese language, culture, and industrial practices, enhancing their global career prospects.
A key highlight of the interaction was the proposal for short-term academic visits to Japan, where SRM students can experience campus life, industry exposure, and cultural immersion further strengthening bilateral engagement.
The delegation participated in campus tours, research lab visits, and cultural experiences, gaining insights into SRM University-AP’s academic ecosystem and research capabilities.
Both institutions expressed a shared commitment to building a long-term, mutually beneficial partnership, fostering innovation, global exposure, and academic excellence.
