Online FDP Conducted on Communication in the Global Classroom

The Department of Literature and Languages, Easwari School of Liberal Arts (ESLA), organised a Five-Day Faculty Development Programme on “Teaching Communication in the Global Classroom: Academic, Industry, and Employability Perspectives”, from March 09-13, 2026.

The FDP was designed to empower research scholars and early-career faculty with contemporary, practice-oriented approaches to communication pedagogy in higher education. Aligned with the vision of NEP 2020 for multidisciplinary, skill-based, and learner-centred education, the programme addressed the evolving demands of global classrooms and professional environments.

Focused sessions on persuasion in pedagogical discourse, effective classroom interaction, experiential and technology-enabled learning, task-based approaches of teaching and learning, teaching English for specific purposes, Technical and Scientific Writing pedagogy, teaching academic writing, communication and research were conducted by professors from reputed universities and institutes.

Speakers included Dr Uttaran Dutta, Arizona State University, Arizona, USA; Dr. Jayshree Chakraborty, IIT Kharagpur (Retired); Dr Shilpee Dasgupta, IIM Ranchi; Dr Sayantan Mukherjee, IIM Indore; Dr Chandreye Mukherjee, IIM Visakhapatnam; Dr Ridhima Tiwari, IIT Dharward; Dr Santosh Mahapatra, BITS – Pilani (Hyderabad); Dr Dibyakusum Ray, IIT Ropar; Dr Sudharshana N P, IIT Kanpur and D Srabani Basu, SRM AP.

The event received more than a hundred registrations, including participants from SRM AP and other universities across the country, providing a valuable platform for emerging educators to strengthen their pedagogical expertise and professional impact in today’s dynamic educational landscape.

The FDP was convened by Dr Rajoshree Chatterjee and Mr Amlan Baisya, Assistant Professors from the Department of Literature and Languages.
