MindSpire is a sustainability-oriented academic initiative led by Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) students from the Department of Management, SRM University–AP. The project integrates SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being and SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production, with a focus on cultivating mindful lifestyles and responsible consumption practices among university students.
Project Overview
The initiative addresses two interconnected challenges increasingly faced by today’s youth—rising psychological stress and unsustainable lifestyle choices. MindSpire examines how everyday habits related to mental well-being and consumption behaviour collectively influence personal health and environmental responsibility. By positioning mindfulness as a central framework, the project encourages a shift from passive awareness to intentional, value-driven action in student life.
Research Focus & Methodology
The study was structured to assess:
- Stress levels, emotional resilience, and mindfulness practices among students
- Awareness and adoption of responsible consumption behaviours
- Structural and motivational barriers limiting sustained mindful practices
Primary data was collected through a structured 24-question survey administered to students aged 17–28, complemented by secondary research from academic literature. The project followed the Project Life Cycle framework, ensuring systematic planning, implementation, and evaluation.
Key Findings
The findings revealed a clear gap between awareness and consistent action. Academic pressure emerged as a significant contributor to emotional imbalance, while convenience, time constraints, and limited institutional reinforcement restricted the regular adoption of mindful and sustainable behaviours.
Outcomes & Insights
The project highlights the need for:
- Institutionalised mindfulness and well-being interventions
- Digitally enabled awareness platforms to reinforce daily conscious choices
- Support mechanisms that encourage long-term responsible consumption habits
In response, the team developed the MindSpire digital platform, designed to promote mental wellness, stress management, and conscious consumption through accessible, engaging, and student-centric content.
Impact
MindSpire demonstrates how student-driven research combined with digital interventions can contribute to healthier and more sustainable campus ecosystems. By integrating mental well-being with responsible consumption, the project reinforces the role of youth as proactive agents of change in building resilient, mindful, and environmentally conscious communities.
