SRM University-AP celebrated International Women’s Day 2026 with a meaningful programme centred on this year’s theme, “Give to Gain.” The theme highlights a powerful idea: when we support, uplift and invest in women’s growth, society as a whole progresses.
The event was graced by Ms Rayapati Sailaja, Chairperson, Andhra Pradesh State Women’s Commission (Chief Guest); Ms Indu S. Menon, General Manager, Isuzu Motors India (Guest of Honour); and Major Avinashi Patwal (Guest of Honour). The programme was also attended by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Ch. Satish Kumar, Registrar Dr R Premkumar, and Associate Director–Student Affairs Ms Revathi B.
In his address, the Vice-Chancellor emphasised that women’s empowerment begins at home by nurturing values of equality and respect in children, without discrimination between boys and girls. Major Avinashi spoke about how NCC training is empowering young women today by building confidence and leadership. Ms Indu Menon shared her inspiring journey of stepping beyond her comfort zone to become a leader, while Ms Sailaja emphasised the need to move beyond stereotypes and create more inclusive opportunities for women.
The celebration also honoured competition winners and recognised outstanding women employees from the security and housekeeping teams with Prof. VS Rao Foundation Awards. The event concluded with vibrant cultural performances and gifts distributed to all women employees.
When women rise, societies rise with them. International Women’s Day is not just a celebration—it is a reminder that empowering women strengthens families, workplaces and nations alike.
