Intellectual Property Rights Workshop Decodes the Patent Process and Technology Transfer

The Technology Transfer Cell at SRM AP organised a one-day workshop on “Intellectual Property Creation and Technology Transfer”. The workshop was led by Mr Amit Sudarsan, Founder, Videaim IP Pvt., Ltd., and, Walnut IP Pvt., Ltd. and Dr Madhavi Muppirala, Director, Videaim IP Pvt., Ltd., and Walnut IP Pvt., Ltd.

Mr Amit Sudarsan’s session effectively simplified the process of reading and understanding patent documents. He systematically broke down the components, making it easier to decipher complex details. Furthermore, he clearly explained the three primary criteria for patentability, which include – novelty, inventive step (improvement), and industrial application

Participants were also educated as to what can be patented, he also demystified the misconception that ideas can be patented. The session was followed by Q and A session wherein faculties and students raised their queries.

Prof. G S Vinod Kumar also took a session on Technology Transfer. Prof. Vinod briefed the participants on the commercibility of a research. He elaborated the process of filing a patent and how the process is different in India and US. He further detailed on the concept of its marketability, value proposition and the factors that allow your technology to be a prospective commercialised product.

The event proved to be a beneficial workshop for all the participants , offering deep insights into the strenuous process of Patent filing and Technology Transfer. Workshops such as these reaffirm the university’s commitment to producing high-quality research.
