Dr Rangabhashiyam Selvasembian is an accomplished academician and researcher in the field of Environmental Science and Engineering with significant international research exposure and a strong record of scholarly contributions. He is currently serving as Associate Dean – PhD Programmes, SRM University-AP, Andhra Pradesh, India. Prior to this role, he served as Head and Associate Professor in the Department of Environmental Science and Engineering, School of Engineering and Sciences, SRM University-AP, where he actively contributed to academic leadership, research development, and strengthening of the faculty and doctoral programmes.
Dr Rangabhashiyam Selvasembian began his academic career with prestigious international and national research appointments. He worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Max Planck Institute for Dynamics of Complex Technical Systems, Germany, followed by a National Post-Doctoral Fellowship at the National Institute of Technology Rourkela, India (2016–2018). He later served as faculty at SASTRA University, India, before joining SRM University-AP.
Dr Rangabhashiyam’s research interests focus on waste valorisation and sustainable environmental technologies. He is currently the Principal Investigator of prestigious research projects with international collaborations funded by the ASEAN-India Science & Technology Development Fund (AISTDF) and the International Cooperation Division, Department of Science and Technology. He has published more than 190 peer-reviewed articles, contributed 21 book chapters and 11 edited books published from prestigious publishers such as Elsevier, Wiley, CRC, and Springer.
He is a highly recognised researcher and has been consistently listed among the World’s Top 2% Scientists by Elsevier and Stanford University (2021–2025). His academic excellence is further reflected through several honours, including the BRICS Young Scientist Award (2018), Hiyoshi Young Leaf Award (2018, Japan), and multiple Outstanding Reviewer Awards from leading Elsevier and Wiley journals. He has also served as an Expert Reviewer for BIRAC (2023).
Dr Rangabhashiyam Selvasembian actively contributes to editorial responsibilities across several reputed international journals. He serves as an Academic Editor for Adsorption Science & Technology (Hindawi) and as an Associate Editor for the South African Journal of Chemical Engineering (Elsevier), Frontiers in Environmental Chemistry, International Journal of Environmental Science & Technology (Springer), and IET Nanobiotechnology (Wiley). In addition, he is a member of the Editorial Boards of Scientific Reports (Nature), Separation & Purification Reviews (Taylor & Francis), Environmental Management (Springer), Current Pollution Reports (Springer), Inorganic Chemistry Communications (Elsevier), and the International Journal of Environmental Analytical Chemistry (Taylor & Francis).
