November St. Paul's College, Kochi. October 25 | Sree Narayana College, Cherthala, Alappuzha

On October 25, 2024, Aquinas College in Kochi welcomed Dr Salla Gangi Reddy for an enlightening session on “Career Prospects in Physics.” This engaging event organised by the Directorate of Admissions drew students eager to explore the multitude of opportunities that a background in physics can offer.
Dr Reddy captivated the audience with his expertise, sharing insights into various career paths ranging from academia to industry applications. Students actively participated, asking thoughtful questions and discussing their own aspirations, making it a dynamic and interactive experience.

MoU with St. Teresa’s College | Dr. R. Prem Kumar, Prof. Siva Sankar Yellampalli

SRM University-AP signed a groundbreaking MoU with St. Teresa’s College Ernakulam. The MoU signed with the aim to enhance the academic collaboration. The MoU will also focus on the initiatives between the Directorate of Entrepreneurship & Innovation at SRM University-AP and S.L.A.T.E (Sustainability, Leadership & Agency Through Education), an inspiring project from St. Teresa’s College, which will celebrate its centenary in 2025.
The agreement was officially signed by Dr R Premkumar, Registrar of SRM University-AP and Rev. Sr. Emeline CSST, Director of St. Teresa’s College, in the presence of esteemed guests including Shri C Balagopal, Chairman of the Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation Ltd.
The event also witnessed distinguished guests at the event including Dr Siva Sankar Yellampalli, Director – Admissions at SRM University-AP; Rev. Dr Sr Vinitha, Former Manager -St. Teresa’s College; Dr Sr Suchitha, Vice Principal-St. Teresa’s College; Dr Nithish T Jacob, Director – S.L.A.T.E.; Ms Sona Thomas, Deputy Director – S.L.A.T.E; and Mr Sooraj V Nair, Area Manager for South, SRM University-AP. The MoU signing was followed by a fruitful discussion addressing education, sustainability, and innovation. This collaboration will create an impactful framework for student entrepreneurship programmes and bolster initiatives across the states of Andhra Pradesh and Kerala.

P.B.Siddhartha College

The Directorate of Admission at SRM University-AP kicked off an inspiring outreach programme at P.B. Siddhartha College, Vijayawada. The event featured an engaging session led by the dynamic Dr Rajiv Senapati, Assistant Professor of Computer Science and Engineering, on career prospects through higher education. The session was a fantastic platform for students to gain insights into the significance of acquiring a Master’s degree in a specialised domain, which can further boost their career opportunities.

Bhasyam Jr college -Day college

On November 24, 2024, SRM University-AP welcomed 580 students from Bhashyam Junior College, Guntur, for an engaging admissions event. The students had the opportunity to participate in an interactive session featuring distinguished faculty members including Dr Uma Maheswar from Civil Engineering; DrRavi Kumar from Physics; Dr Tapan Kumar Hota from the Department of Mathematics; Dr Rajapandyan from the Department of Chemistry, and Dr Tousif Khan from the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering. Following the session, the students enjoyed a tour of our campus facilities and were briefed about the programmes and expertise offered at the University.

Sai Vikas School

Over 170 students from Sai Vikas School, Chilakaluripet visited the SRM AP campus as part of the University Exploration Day!

Faculty Expert and Head of the Department of Psychology, Dr Ayesha Parveen Haroon, addressed the students and spoke extensively on “Career in Psychology” and how it would benefit the students to pursue a career in Psychology.

The event offered relevant insights and sparked excitement among the students about their future academic endeavors in Psychology.

Educationists Work to Bring Synergy with STEM and STEAM Education

While the debate between science and the arts prevails, there has come a new paradigm wherein it’s no more about science or the arts but science with the arts. At a recent event in Chennai hosted by Edex Awards, Dr Srabani Basu, Associate Professor in Language and Literature, offered an interesting perspective on the debate between STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) and STEAM (which includes the Arts).

The panel discussion that commenced as part of the event saw eminent panellists like Arshleen Kalra from Klay Preschools and Daycare, Dr Theporal S from Christ Academy Institute for Advanced Studies, and Dhanya K from Amrita Vidyalayam, who shared their expertise and deep-seated passion for the education, empahsising the importance of incorporating arts into scientific education to bring about creativity.

Events and panel discussions such as this facilitate the transformation of a new and reformed education system. The gap between science and art has for centuries left the learning system crippled, a co-existing approach will enhance the education system and bring about a holistic perspective to learning and teaching, leading to well-rounded individuals.
