From the Department’s Desk
We offer a full academic pathway for students with B.Sc., M.Sc., and a Ph.D. programme in Economics. Our B.Sc. focuses on building solid grounding in economic theory and applications — the kind that places our students on par with their counterparts at some of the best institutions in India and abroad. Being part of the Easwari School of Liberal Arts, our students get genuine opportunities for interdisciplinary learning via cross disciplinary foundational courses and discipline minors.
The newly launched M.Sc. Economics is designed around a conviction we feel strongly about: machine learning, large language models, and AI are not replacing core economic theory and tools — they are extending it. The programme reflects that honestly, with two specialization tracks — Finance & Data Science and Development & Policy — that together prepare graduates for research, policy, financial, and doctoral careers.
Our M.Sc. program ties into the Ph.D. program, deepening the training needed to do serious economic research in the age of big data, cutting-edge theory, and ever-evolving AI applications.
