Greetings.
Welcome to the Department of Economics, Easwari School of Liberal Arts at SRM University-AP. Our department is committed to academic excellence, innovative teaching, and meaningful research that responds to the opportunities and challenges of a rapidly changing world. Economics today goes far beyond traditional boundaries and is increasingly shaped by data, technology, policy, and global change. Our aim is to nurture economists who can think critically, analyse rigorously, and contribute to society through evidence-based solutions. Our strength lies in our faculty, a team of dedicated scholars trained at premier institutions across the world, with strong academic credentials and diverse research expertise. By bringing research-led teaching into the classroom, our faculty ensure that students engage with both foundational ideas and contemporary developments in the discipline.
Our M.Sc. Economics Programme is grounded in economic theory and rebuilt for the age of Artificial Intelligence. It stands among India’s first AI-integrated M.Sc. Economics programmes, with AI woven into teaching, learning, and research. The programme offers two specialised tracks, Finance & Data Science and Development & Policy, designed to be both career-ready and PhD-ready. Our Undergraduate Programmes, B.Sc. Economics, B.Sc. Economics (Hons.), and B.Sc. Economics (Hons.) with Research, provide a strong foundation in economic theory, quantitative methods, policy, and applied learning. Through projects, internships, and research exposure, students build the analytical and professional skills needed for diverse careers and higher studies.

Our Ph.D. Programme promotes rigorous and original research in many areas. Research remains central to the department, with faculty and students engaged in cutting-edge scholarship using advanced quantitative methods, computational tools, AI-enabled analytics, and interdisciplinary approaches. The department also hosts seminars, workshops, conferences, guest lectures, and policy dialogues that enrich learning and create valuable opportunities for collaboration and growth.
