Research proposals of Ashwini Nawade and Kunchanapalli Ramya, research scholars from the e-transport Laboratory have been selected for execution under the Indian Nanoelectronics Users Program (INUP). They went through a 10-day advance training programme prior to the presentation of their respective research proposals. They are executing these research projects under the guidance of Dr. Sabyasachi Mukhopadhyay, Assistant Professor, Department of Physics.
The INUP intends to facilitate experimentation of research ideas of Indian researchers in the general area of nanoelectronics. This program provides easy access to high-end nanoscience facilities at Centre of Excellence in Nanoelectronics in IISc and IITB, for a wider research community in India. Under the INUP program, Ashwini and Ramya will fabricate proposed device structure at INUP-CeNSE IISc. The INUP program generously supports their travel and accommodation needs during their visit to INUP centres.
Their research is broadly based on Bioelectronics/ Molecular Electronic topics. Ashwini is working on the Development of Microchannel based electronic devices and Ramya is developing Photoactive, Bio-inspired Molecular transistors. Both the project has future application in Biomolecular and Biosensing devices. Their research aims at understanding the charge transport through biomolecules, which could be useful for future applications and device miniaturization. It will allow them to understand different physical characteristics of biomolecules when used as active materials in a transistor as well measure two-dimensional electron transport across single layer of molecules.
